unmade beds poster Axl moved to London from Madrid in order to find his father. Vera just broke up with her boyfriend. Together with Mike, Hannah and a number of other people they occupy a squat in 21st century London and over the course of a few weeks/months they drift together and apart through life.

Fast & Furious (2009)

Fast And Furious The opening scenes of the fourth installment of the The Fast And The Furious movies re-introduces us to two of the original characters from the first film (Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez) one from the third (Sung Kang) and, of course, what would good times be without a reminder of crazy stunts involving cars and semi trucks? Shortly after the Road Warrior style heist, we meeet up with other Fast alum, namely Paul Walker and Jordanna Brewster who also reprise their roles. Director Justin Lin, also returns from the previous film and, once again, he brings something a bit more to the table than Rob Cohen (the first Fast) or John Singleton (2 Fast 2 Furious).

He’s Just Not That Into You (2009)

He's Just Not That Into You posterTake a famous line from a popular TV programme and base a film around it. He’s just not that into you is exactly that.  The line was given great emphasis in an episode of Sex and the City and it obviously struck a cord with viewers, as now it’s the title of this reasonably successful film. The saying is supposed to make women feel empowered, by reavealing to them why men don’t call them again after a date. It’s not because they’re playing mind games or trying not to appear too keen. It’s because ‘he’s just not that into you’.  Personally, I would have thought that was obvious, but apparently not.

Zombieland (2009)

Zombieland posterFirst of all, it’s cards on the table time. Zombieland is only the second zombie flick I’ve ever seen. I know. I know. I’m sorry. 28 days later is the other one. Not even one of the “Dead” series. They’re on my Netflix cue and have been for quite some time. I just haven’t gotten around to them. Things come up, y’know? Wha’d’ya do? I also saw Planet Terror, but I’m nearly done blocking that from my memory so it doesn’t count. That all being said I got to go to an advanced screening of this film, sat down with some popcorn and soda (as is appropriate) and thoroughly enjoyed Zombieland.

Extract (2009)

Extract posterI am a huge fan of Office Space, the 1999 film about how it sucks to work for “The Man.” Now, 10 years later Mike Judge is back with another film about how it sucks to be “The Man.” Mike Judge, known also for bringing us Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill, Idiocracy and a whole slew of other morons for us to laugh at, does not disappoint with his new batch. No one in this film has very much common sense, at points frustratingly so. This, however, is the joke and it seems that Mike Judge likes to make fun of his progeny of fools, looking down his nose at them in a Coen Brothers kind of way.
