While the CoP site generally focuses on movie and DVD reviews, every now and then I come by a movie-celeb news article which I feel compelled to share and comment on. This time around, it’s about Lindsay Lohan. There is lots of talk about the February 2009 issue of Interview, some of which has been leaked to the masses. I don’t know if the quotes are taken out of context or other blurbs around them in the article are more defined or less eye grabbing.
As reported by E! Online:
“But what hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don’t get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life”
I would, at this time, like to point out a few things. Freaky Friday was cute and funny, Mean Girls was a laugh riot. If nothing else, I am convinced she made a smart, bold move to be in Robert Altman’s last film, A Prairie Home Companion a film which I enjoyed very much. Granted, she didn’t have a big role in that, but she was in it. I’ll give her that. I know people who even liked Georgia Rule. However, as with some actors and actresses, there have been costly misfires. In Lohan’s case, a string of duds including, of all things, Herbie Fully Loaded, Just My Luck and the outstandingly wretched mess called I Know Who Killed Me.
But here she is, complaining about not getting parts because of ‘distractions’ that she helps create. Let’s see…if that is true, whose fault is that, really? Other actresses like Scarlett Johansson, or hers? How many times has Scarlett Johansson been in and out of rehab? How many crazy, attention grabbing stunts has Scarlett done to gain publicity she doesn’t need? Did Scarlett Johansson call any actress in her age group (or even out of it) one of the most offensive things you can call another woman?Without justification? When Scarlett was 13 years old, and auditioned for “ The Parent Trap she *lost* out on the part that went to Lindsay Lohan.
So, folks, there is but only one, yes, only one explanation for this. Jealousy.
Scarlett Johansson doesn’t whine like a spoiled little wuss, lets her private life be private, doesn’t pretend to be a diva or acts like one..and she, once having lost a part to Lohan, has now eclipsed her as an actress.
Just a thought.
