The story is a bit dodgy (not very true to the historical content) but that's almost forgotten by the nice pictures. Especially after having seen the Himalaya's myself, I always had a soft spot for it. It also draws the attention to the dismal situation of the Tibetans (I have visited Tibetan refugee-camps in Nepal a couple of years ago. Very interesting, proud people). So all in all a nice movie. Then came the film... argh, I thought they would've taken the good story and, being able to avoid Harrer's bad penmanship, made it into a great film, but they ruined it with Brad Pitt and too many minutes. So, give me Kundun anytime 'coz it's got a great Philip Glass soundtrack too!
