Just Married (2003)
Rich girl meets poor boy. They fall in love and decide to get married. Of course her family doesn’t approve. Recipe for disaster… at the movies! “Just Married” was last night’s Sneak Preview at my local cinema. I was hoping it would be “Equilibrium”, so this was quite a disappointment.

South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut (1999)
Dutch broadcaster V8 showed the South Park movie last night. I’d seen it in the cinema when it came out, but I didn’t fully remember how some parts of the story are very relevant to the situation in the world today. There’s even a very funny supporting role for Saddam Hussein ![]()

The One (2001)
Jet Li is “The One”… well, maybe Jackie Chan might have something to say about that. But any really hardcore kung fu fan will tell you, that while both are excellent, much of what we see them doing in films for the western market are rather pass’ and much has been done, often quite better, in Hong Kong kung fu classics as well new films. Having said this, I remove myself from all previous knowledge and enjoy this film for what it is, a watered down piece of western kung fu fluff…

Shanghai Knights (2003)
This was last night’s Sneak Preview in Huizen, where I live. I’ve never seen “Shanghai Noon”, to which this is the sequel, but I’ve always wanted to. Mostly to see what the fuss was about with this Jackie Chan character, and in part to see how a comedy-kungfu-western turns out.

Ghost in the Shell (1996)
This was one of the first films shown as part of the 19th Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival and I went in not knowing what to expect. Japanese Manga animations had never really appealed to me, but then I’d never really seen one.

Jackass the Movie (2002)
What makes these guys tick? Were they thinking:’What TV format can we come up with next?’ Are they really this crazy? Are they smart guys taking advantage of taboo’s and values of the masses. Are they on a crusade to show the world how uptight it is? Or are they just having fun.
